D.V.”Red” McConnohie -Inventor and Chairman Born and raised near Kalamazoo, Michigan, “Red” served with the 8th Air Force Heavy Bomber Group on the north coast of England in World War II. Post war, he attended Western Michigan University on the G.I. Bill studying industrial, mechanical and hydraulic engineering. He moved to Florida in 1955 and joined American Buildings Co. in 1959. Red established his own design build construction company in 1966. He then moved into the development arena creating three business/industrial parks while constructing numerous facilities in several states and overseas, enjoying a close relationship with Varco-Pruden for over 12 years. Red retired from general contracting and development and began his “Red MC-1” Construction Consulting business in 1978. In 1990, after needing to retro-fit one of his own industrial buildings, McConnohie invented the “Roof Hugger”. Red and Dale Nelson created Roof Hugger, Inc. to develop and market this product. Red is now very active in its national and international sales and marketing.
